Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a safe and effective sedation option that can help reduce dental anxiety and make treatment more comfortable. It works quickly and allows you to remain awake, relaxed, and responsive throughout your appointment. The effects typically wear off shortly after treatment.

What to Expect
Consultation and Evaluation
During your consultation, our dentists will discuss your dental anxiety, medical history, and treatment needs to determine whether nitrous oxide or another sedation option is appropriate for you.
During Treatment
After reviewing the procedure and answering your questions, your dentist will place a comfortable mask over your nose to deliver nitrous oxide. You will remain awake and able to communicate throughout treatment. After the procedure, you will breathe pure oxygen for several minutes to help clear the nitrous oxide from your system.
After Treatment
Nitrous oxide typically wears off quickly, allowing most patients to return to their normal activities shortly after the appointment. Your dentist will provide personalized instructions based on your treatment and individual circumstances.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedation can help patients who experience significant dental anxiety or fear feel calmer and more comfortable during dental treatment. It may be an option for patients whose anxiety is related to previous dental experiences, dental instruments, or other concerns. Sedation can make it easier for anxious patients to receive necessary dental care in a more relaxed environment.
What to Expect

Before and During Treatment
Your dentist will review the sedation process, answer your questions, and obtain the necessary consent. If oral sedation is prescribed, you will receive specific instructions regarding when and how to take the medication before your appointment.
Because oral sedatives can cause drowsiness and affect your coordination and alertness, you must arrange for a responsible adult to drive you to and from your appointment. You should not drive yourself or operate machinery after taking oral sedation.
After Treatment
You will need to rest and follow all post-treatment and sedation instructions provided by our dental team. A responsible adult should accompany you home and remain with you as recommended. Our team will schedule any necessary follow-up appointments to monitor your recovery and oral health.
